Getting fussy eaters onto a new food can sometimes be a problem. Here are a few tips to help you along the way. 1. Don’t be bossed by the dog! 2. Let’s assume your dog is happy and healthy? If not check with your vet before changing foods. 3. Transition slowly from the old food to the new food. Dogs often don’t like a change to their routine. 4. Try adding warm water and making the food into a porridge like consistency. Sometimes the novelty of a change in texture can work wonders. 5. Remove the food. If your dog refuses to eat the new food, remove the bowl after 15 minutes and try again several hours later. 6. Exercise – make sure your dog is well exercised, a tired dog is a hungry dog! 7. No table scraps or human meals!

By it’s very design cold pressed food creates a great quality poop! Sorry, it had to be said!Because the fibre content is quite high and that fibre is natural (as opposed to extruded food where much of the fibre and goodness is lost due to the manufacturing process), it promotes some great gut action. The plant fibres are really important as they allow water to be absorbed into the large intestine and make the poop more mobile and easier to pass. The result is you will find a poop that is easy to pick up and you will often have plenty of it! This might take some of you raw feeders by surprise! Just relate this to humans, we only need to look at vegetarians, vegans and people who follow a predominantly plant based diet, the volume of their stools is far higher than a person who is a committed carnivore!

Our cold pressed kibble is 7mm diameter and the lengths vary. It is much softer than standard extruded kibble though, think luxury flapjack rather than own brand ginger nuts!

Yes, you can feed Walker & Drake to dogs at any life stage, even pups, as long as they have been weaned and your vet is happy for them to eat solid food. Check the feeding guide for daily amounts.

Yes, Walker & Drake is a complete nutrition dog food. If your dog is a worker you may have to feed it slightly more than a dog that is less active. Check the feeding guide for daily amounts. Remember to always weigh your dog food portions, cold pressed food is naturally more dense than extruded kibble so it is easy to overfeed your pooch.

All Life Stages and Puppy food is grain and gluten free. Our Small Breed food contains rice which is technically a grain, so it is denoted as wheat and gluten free.

No, all the meat/protein elements are cooked and dried before blending with the other ingredients. The majority of vegetables are raw but dried and either flaked or ground before blending and pressing.

Our cold pressed dog food & dog treats are all made in the UK.

Our cold pressed food comes in 2kg and 10kg bags. Our treats come in 100 gram pouches.

Yes, it is called Polyethylene (PE) and is 100% recyclable due to its mono material structure. Check with your local authority to see that it is recycled in your area.

Absolutely. Mix it with a little warm water to soften the food to form the consistency of porridge.

Walker & Drake cold pressed should always stored in a cool dry location away from direct light.DO NOT STORE IN AN AIR TIGHT CONTAINER. Our bags have tiny perforations in them to allow the food to breath.

Absolutely. Many dog owners who feed their pooch a raw diet also use cold pressed as it offers a food that is naturally nutrition complete and is made is a gentle way.

While the general technique of making it is the same that can’t be said of recipes. At Walker & Drake we have developed our own recipe with good meat content and great mix of vegetables and botanicals. Specifically, our recipe is great for ease of digestion and joint care.

Yes, but we can only accept returns of unopened and undamaged bags of our food and within 14 days of delivery. If you return the bag(s) back to us you must pay for the delivery. We will refund you on receipt minus a 10% administration fee.

We sometimes get ask why we use chicken oil in our Duck and Ocean Fish recipes when a customer has a dog with a chicken intolerance. Chicken oil does not exhibit the same properties, and should not be confused with chicken protein (meat). As it is primarily the protein fraction of the antigen causing the allergy issue, the fats and oils used in pet food no matter of their origin do not carry antigen proteins. This is a common misconception, but should allow you to use our food.

We manufacture our food with a best before date of 9 months so by the time a customer receives it there is usually at least 8 months of that time remaining. If stored in a cool dark place and NOT in an airtight container it should last fine opened for most of that time period. In our homes we decant some into a container with a flip top lid so it does not create an airtight seal. The rest we just keep in a cupboard, still in the bag and roll the top of the bag over. Our bags have tiny perforations down the sides to let them breathe a bit.

Yes we love to support breeders and their new arrivals! Please email tim@walkeranddrake.com for more details.

They are about the size of a 50 pence coin and shaped like a dog paw. They can be fed in one piece and are also soft enough to break into smaller pieces and used as a training treat.
